About Us

Generally

Meet Diesel the Dug — professional good boy, elite snack inspector, long‑distance legend, and part‑time explorer of the nation’s railways.

In 2024/25, Diesel completed the Virtual Land’s End to John o’ Groats, covering the full length of the UK from bottom tae top. A casual 874 miles. He walked it. His hooman, Alex, merely tried to keep up.

But Diesel’s adventures go far beyond virtual walks. This lad has travelled the full east coast by train, all the way from Aberdeen to London and on to Brighton. He took to the rails like a seasoned commuter and — against all expectations — absolutely loved the London Underground. New smells, new people, tunnels stretching for miles… Diesel strutted through the Tube like he owned the place.

And does he retire after all that? Settle into his bed and demand belly rubs for the rest of his days? Naw. He’s a Scottish dug. We dinnae quit.

This May, Diesel and Alex are taking on their next challenge: the full 96 miles of the West Highland Way — Diesel completing the virtual route, of course, because it includes all his favourite things: sniffs, mud, suspicious sticks, and absolutely nae tourists in matching waterproofs.

They’re doing it in support of the brilliant My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, kicking off on Friday 1st May. All of Diesel’s usual walkies count… but Alex has also mentioned “extra walkies” and “longer walkies,” which suggests Diesel may soon become a Highland endurance machine. Diesel has agreed — on the strict condition that the snack budget is increased. Dramatically.

By the end of May, Diesel aims to have conquered the West Highland Way, strengthened his claim as a national treasure, and possibly insisted on being carried the final few metres like the majestic wee prince he is.

Follow along, cheer him on, and join the adventure. Diesel’s paws are ready. Alex’s legs… less so.
