The Election
Community Council elections are not too common as on most occasions there are never more than 12 nominations to fill all 12 spaces and all are elected by default. On this occasion there are 16 nominations for the 12 spaces, therefore an election is required.

The Election
The ballot will be held on Thursday, 11 June 2026 between 10.00 am – 7.00 pm. Ballot Papers and the ballot box will be available in the Town Hall, Jedburgh during this time. All those on the electoral register in the Jedburgh Community Council area, who are entitled to vote in a Local Authority election on that day, shall be entitled to cast a vote in the ballot.
The Democratic Services Team, Scottish Borders Council will oversee the ballot.
The votes will be counted on Friday, 12 June 2026 at 10 a.m. in Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells.

Voting Arrangements
There will only be ONE ballot box located in the Town Hall.
If you wish to vote, the ballot will be held between 10am and 7pm on Thursday 11 June 2026 in the Town Hall.
All those on the electoral register in the Jedburgh Community Council area (MAP), who are entitled to vote in a Local Authority election on that day, shall be entitled to cast a vote in the ballot.

How to vote
Eligible voters will be entitled to a maximum of 12 votes. The 12 seats will be filled by the 12 candidates with the highest number of votes.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no alternative of postal voting or voting by proxy. Poll cards will not be issued.
